Cindy Ferrari, Founder of Elixium
Functional Nutritionist, Naturopath, Homeopath & Mentor
When I founded Elixium, I realised I'd always taken vital health for granted. Good whole food has been a passion for me since my early years. I fondly remember being a sous chef to my Italian Nonna, cooking homemade and nutritious meals from as young as three.
My dual background is routed in the biological sciences as an Ecologist with a BSc from Cambridge with experience in ecosystem management in various situations and places around the world, and in the corporate world as owner and CEO of a specialist business consultancy and advisor to the global financial services sector. These two disciplines may seem miles away from the natural health arena but in fact are not as far away from the world of natural health as you might think and combined, both come together to provide me with a unique perspective.
I grew up in the '70s and '80s with a whole-food diet. My parents put meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit on the table. We ate real butter and raw dairy, consumed olive oil, ate organ meats (because they were cheap), and my parents made fresh bread and pasta at home from ancient grain flour. We ate three solid meals daily, no snacks, and dessert only after eating my greens. Sweets and chocolate were treats once a week.
To me, food has always been just that - whole, unadulterated food to nourish and fuel the body. In hindsight and with the wisdom of age, I realised that my childhood diet was more than just food. It was sustainable nourishment that provided nutrients and energy to the body and played a significant role in overall vital health, impacting physical, mental, emotional, and even my spiritual well-being.
I was blind to the developing trend towards ultra-processed foods, blind until my mother was undergoing medical treatments. The prescribed nutritional advice was to avoid all fibre, protein, and fat (the food required for bodily maintenance and repair) and to consume only highly processed sugary foods and drinks. Instinctively, this pricked my consciousness and started my journey into understanding natural health.

No and I do not offer medical diagnoses or advice. It is always advised to check with your medical practitioner when considering any dietary or lifestyle changes. I do in certain circumstances communicate and work collaboratively with GP’s and consultants and can support mainstream treatments with dietary and lifestyle advice.

Yes! I want to share my message with as many people as possible. If you have a podcast, event, or publication, I’d love to share my story with you and introduce a new approach to health, from the inside out. Drop me a note to chat about this opportunity.
An unique perspective on the medical system
I learnt that our medical system, whilst extraordinary in acute situations, seemed to me to be wildly off when it came to treating chronic diseases. As an ecologist, I already had a unique perspective, understanding that the human race was moving further and further away from vital health and our connectedness to the world around us, but I was unprepared when I discovered to what extent.
What was glaringly apparent to me as an ecologist is that the body is a perfectly observable example of an ecosystem, all its parts working in extraordinary unison, with its sole purpose being survival. A healthy functional ecosystem is one where all parts are ultimately interdependent upon one another for survival. Its adaptability to grow, maintain and repair is only guaranteed when all parts work together.
The body will repair, redirect, and compensate if something goes wrong but needs the fundamental fuel to function effectively. Providing the body with the correct fuel is crucial – one would not dream of putting lemonade in a car and expect it to run. The same is true for the body – growth, functionality, and survival depend on what we fuel it with. What is also critical is environmental pressure. We're influenced and significantly affected by external variables, some of which we can control and others we can't.
With my scientifically focused, biased brain, I started to accumulate a vast amount of research and clinical data showing that chronic disease was skyrocketing and vital health was plummeting in all age groups in most countries. It's a complicated picture, but fundamentally, the evidence pointed toward a lack of nourishing food that had been replaced by consuming edible but wholly unnourishing ingredients masquerading as food. This crisis has been compounded by the planned introduction of lab-grown meat and moving away from living in a connected way with the natural world, including the demonising of sunlight and foods consumed since ancient times. There has also been a massive shift toward pharmaceutical intervention at every turn, turning over our health to a medical system which was not advocating for anything other than symptom suppression.
These moves away from living with nature presented me with a dire situation.
A different approach to vital health
I felt compelled to be involved in reversing the rising trend of living without vitality and to provide different alternatives to just living with disease and symptoms (which are often made worse by diet and lifestyle and long-term pharmaceutical use, which bring added symptoms as they interact with the body's finely tuned ecosystem). With my background and scientific specialism in ecosystems and their health, it seemed bizarre to me not to first provide the fundamental requirements of the body and then not consider it as a whole.
To begin practising as a holistic functional healthcare professional, I set about training and qualifying in Nutrition and Homeopathy. These two modalities, when integrated, prove the complete opportunity for vital health. Nutrition is foundational, and Homeopathy is balancing, curative, and without toxicity when required. I knew all too well the power of nourishing the body, and I had witnessed and experienced the power of Homeopathy on many occasions, not least in the maintenance of my animal's health and treatment and the many 'WOW' situations with family and friends in the management of acute and chronic illnesses. My corporate experience in running a multinational consulting firm, contributing to corporate businesses in human resources, and mentoring individuals and teams brings significant advantages to The Elixium clinics. I understand human behaviour, cultural nuances, and the cause and effects of different belief systems, and I work closely with individuals to achieve short-term and lifelong goals and aspirations.
My Elixium Clinics prioritise a method of precision functional medicine that addresses the unified system of the body, dedicated to working with clients to build sustainable foundational nutrition, lifestyle habits and behaviours that will mitigate against ill health and disease and support clients in the same way who are already experiencing symptoms, disease, and health challenges.
At Elixium, rooted in science and from experience, we provide guidance, support, perspective, and context so our clients may bring their minds and bodies into vital health to live long and well.
I want you to live with vitality.
